Post Script
Is there anyone in maine who is normal? It seems like everyone likes to sip beer at outdoor venues and is anti lushing out. give me a break! this is the coldest state and beer doesn't keep you warm like vodka does. just ask the russians.
Busy Weekend
This past weekend was considerably more busy than any i have had thus far so I actually have some material for you avid readers...(crickets). Moving right along!
Friday night I met up with a guy from work and his friends for a going away party and checked out Rivalries sports bar. The red sox/yankees game was on and it was a cool place to hang out. The spin and art dip was delicious!! I also learned a new drink which i will be adding to my party on repertoire- "the touchdown" a shot of absolute mango dropped into redbull and chugged like an irish car bomb. Yum and guaranteed to get you f'ed up if you weren't on your best behavior like i was :). Then we hit Margaritas for some corona and patrone shots. It had cool aztec/inca looking artwork everywhere and an ancient bartender with a ridiculous beard. It had a fun vibe and i could def see going there for margaritas and apps. 51 Wharf was our final evening stop, and it was sketch central- sketchy dancing, bumpin' dance music and creepers creepin'. I would be more into going there with a large group of people bc it looked like fun, though not anywhere to go alone or especially soberly.
Saturday I hit up the Miss Portland diner with my parents. The "post-gym" omelet was yummy and seemingly healthy though i could have done without the home-fries and buttered toast. The diner is a restored train dining car and very retro and cool inside. The muffins look unbelievably good and i will def be back to try those out. Saturday night brought us to Kennebunkport, childhood vacation land. Nunan's Lobster Hut was our old standby so of course we had to visit it. My toasted lobster roll was delicious! It is really "maine" (in a good way). Very no frills but delicious!
Sunday night i brunched at the Porthole. Locals seem to sneer at the food, but the Maine blueberry pancakes i had were great and the back deck, which is right on the waterfront was beautiful and a nice way to wake up. It was also pretty consistently busy the whole time we were there, so i feel like its the local food snobs who might sneer but hopefully the owners are laughing all the way to the bank. Sunday evening i went out for a bite to eat with a new acquaintance, who introduced me to Bonobo. I was immediately put off by the name (bonobo? wtf? those monkeys are disgusting) but the ambiance was decent. We shared a pizza entitled "the farm" which had sausage, mozz, roast onions, and oregano (good thing i'm not jewish). All joking aside- the pizza in maine seems to be self important, gourmet inspired swill with crust that really only rivals Digiorno. It's not delivery, its digiorno might become a way of life if i don't find something better asap My dinner partner claimed that being of italian descent makes him a pizza connoisseur... but if he thinks that was great pizza, he is sorely mistaken. post dinner drink(s) were at the Corner Room . we didn't go there for dinner bc apparently the food reviews are distinctly mixed but my drink was delicious and the atmosphere was great. the bosox/yankees game was on but it maintained its classy/chill vibe. another crazy bartender with a sweet beard.
All in all, a good weekend which necessitates me hitting the gym hard this week. Here's a life lesson for all you guys out there - if you take a girl out and shes flirtatious but doesn't respond to any of your "subtle" attempts, don't try to kiss her. I tell you this for free, so be warned.

New Beginnings
I moved to Portland Maine 12 days ago. I never thought i would leave the great state of NY, much less for one so outdoorsy and new england-y. However, I'm adjusting and this blog will serve as my musing and reviews of things everyone needs (gyms, nail places, restaurants, fashion) such that they are in Maine, and other things that i think are blogworthy. :)
